Using text fields as values in a cross tab?

Hello,

Is it possible to use a text field as the value part of a cross tab query? i want to combine two crosstabs into one with an amount and a comments field. I will be using ID numbers to match the coments to the figures in the main table.

every time i try to add the text field as a value i have no joy at all. is this at all possible?
