Using Tape Lib without Tape Lib Option v.7 1

We've been using version 7 and decided to upgrade the to a tape library. Unfortunately, we got the library only to find out we can't buy the Tape Library Option--CA won't sell it anymore. To make matters worse, our budget has been cut and we can't upgrade all the software. I'm stuck trying to make it work without the library option. Here's the question:

I'd like to use the library (Dell 122T) with no library management--just as a big tape drive. Is this possible?

So far, I've put all the tapes in one group and have tried to get it to backup to the group. ArcServe indicates that nothing is mounted so I give it the mount command for the first tape in the group. It processes all the tapes but continues to ask me to mount if I try to do a backup.

Thanks in advance.

The Dell Powervault is an autolader. You don't have to buy a Tape Library Option for autoloaders because they do not contain more than one tape drive and this is supported in the base product.
I think ARCserve is asking for a specific tape according to the rules you hacv set up in the job.
Erase at least one tape in the loader, you should then be able to at least run a backup. Check the manuals on how to set up your jobs correctly.

regards
