Using Stings as Prompts for Stored Procedure Reports

Using Impromptu Versiov 7.0.809.0
SQL Server 2000

Have a Stored Procedure report that I need to pass in String information as one of the prompts. I can passin Integers, dates, etc but when I add a prompt that passes in a string the call fails. I know it is not the Stored procedure because I can execute the Stored procedures from other applications. Any thoughts is greatly appreciated.
