Using putty to SSH my login fails with "access denied". So I have a couple of Suse 9.0 servers. I can use putty to ssh into server1 using name or ip address no problem.
Try to ssh using putty into second server, it ask for login name and password but always gives a "access denied" message. Now I can putty into server1 and then ssh from there to server2, that works.
I checked the /pam.d/sshd file, it's the same as server1.

Any ideas why one works and the other does not?

Thanks

I changed the version of putty from 0.52 to 0.55 and it worked. Must have newer version of sshd on new servers. As soon as I figure out how to check software versions on Linux I'll know for sure.

Thanks for everyones help.
