Wanting move several large collections of data into Sharepoint, however there is a concern this will not be available to access via applications such as Quark Xpress. I tried to import a file via My Network Places on our Sharepoint Services with no luck. Does this require the full blown Server package or are imported files best kept to local drives on the network?

Hello,

What kind of error did you receive? How large was the file you tried to move? Have you checked so that the filetype is not on the blocked list in SharePoint? Or was it just so that you could not open and edit the file once you had copied it?`

By default SharePoint has a filesize limit on 50MB per file.

Cheers,
Thomas

50MG is this true? Only 50mg can be used on Sharepoint? Guess Sharepoint isn't used for any graphic work then.

Make that

So to confirm you can store large files on Sharepoint and access these files through My Network Places?

Absolutely. The only caveat (aside from the upload limit setting and sufficient space in your SQL instance) is that the user machine needs the WebDAV client installed.
