I'm trying to connect a Desktop and Laptop and ultimately share the Internet Connection - but I can't find a way to do it! The Laptop has no RJ45 Sockets, but has 1 Serial and 1 USB Port...

The Broadband Modem has a USB Output and an Ethernet Output - but it appears you cannot use both at the same time. (Plus, I always have connection issues using Ethernet, whether I'm using a Network Card or the Motherboard's built-in Ethernet Controller, so I always use USB).

I have a Serial-Serial Cable but the PCs wont connect - "The Connection Device on the remote PC is out of order"

I've set up both PCs to allow incomming connections on all available ports...what could be the problem here?

Make sure the cable you are using is a 'null modem' cable or get a USB to USB connection cable (they have hardware in the middle)

Well I don't know what kind of cable it is, but I have used it before to play Age of Empires 2 LAN...so it must be the right kind of cable, right?

For the laptop: Are pc card slots available(pcmcia e-net card).
There is a serial to e-net converted available.
What issues do you have using the e-net port on Broadband
modem ? Are you running USB 1 or 2 ?

There is one PC-Card slot in it for ehternet but it's a connection type i've never seen before.

It has USB1.1, but I'm not using the USB Port for the serial connection...

I can connect the broadband to the laptop, but only via USB since it has no standard RJ45 Ethernet Socket.
