Does anybody have any easy way to access a Cisco Router console using the serial port and the rollover cable. Windows HyperTerminal works great, but I've recently put Redhat 7.1 on my laptop. I don't recall which device is the serial port which makes it harder.

Minicom has been a complete pain. Does any know of a good tool for this kind of work.

Hi,

The linux equivalent to com1 is /dev/ttyS0 (com2 = /dev/ttyS1 etc). On older linuxes you may find /dev/cua0 for com1 .

Apart from minicom, there is at least one X based comms prog (seyon) --> .
