Hi all,

I am trying to get Win 98 to automatically run an Access 97 DB at specific times of day. I can schedule the tasks but keep getting the message 'could not start' in the 'sheduled tasks' window.

I can, however, run excel workbooks in this way, I can also get the Access 97 application to run, but not the specific DB.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards

I use Windows 98 task scheduler. I've created an Access database with an
autoexec macro to call my code. The code includes an application.quit
command when it's finished to unload Access. I can then schedule it to run
as often as I like (in my case every hour) and I can make sure that it
doesn't start at the same time the machine is doing other routine tasks (ie.
during a nightly backup, etc.). I also pass command line parameters to
Access to allow me to branch between several routines that I have stored in
the same Access database.

The command line used in the scheduler is similar to this:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office97\Office\MSACCESS.EXE"
c:\mydocs\MyFile.mdb /x "MacroName"

The macro name called on the command line can either run the queries as part
of the macro or it can call a procedure where you can write code to do what
you want.
