I was trying to setup the SBS 2003 Fax service but am unable to locate the modem for this. I could just be doing this all wrong. Does anyone have a cheat sheet on how to achieve this.....

When I last set this up, it detected the modem fine. You should be able to add new hard ware and do it. If not... Try another modem.

Right click on my computer, properties, Hardware tab, add hardware. Follow the prompts and fill in the blanks.

I really appreciate your effort here, but maybe I feel like I'm not really being explicit. The add hardware option does not detect any new hardware. I thought SBS already comes with a fax modem installed?

Really, my question to the forum, was how to jump start everthing so everyone here at the office will be able to send faxes from their desktops........thats it. I have already tried all the 'elementary options'.

thanks guys..

Well, the modem would be part of the Hardware, SBS is a bundled software solution. The Fax Service is part of that software, but it still requires a separate physical modem to work. Unless your server physically has a modem installed, which can be determined as NetworkDoc outlined, you will need to purchase and install one before the Fax Wizard will complete.
