Hello,

I'm using CR2008 and I have a report with saved data. Whenever I change a parameter value directly from a report, the report queries the database again which I do not want. If I change my record selection, it gives an option to use saved data or refresh which is the option I would like if parameter has been changed. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, you can do this from CR2008. In the Preview window, there is a section to the left of the report. Click on Parameters. You have the option here to change the parameters you've entered. If you want to filter based on what's in the report, select a value that's in the report and click on the green checkmark that's just under the word "Parameters" at the top of the screen. If you've selected a value that's not on the report, Crystal will requery the data. If you select a value that's on the report, I believe it will just work with the saved data.

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Ok thanks. I guess I am not using the parameter correctly. I have a formula in the record selection to filter depending on the parameter.

e.g.
select {parameter}
case "1": choose A to N
case "2": choose M to Z
case "all": true

So my question is, how can I achieve this in a way that the report will pull all data initially and used saved data to filter according to the parameter? Thanks.
