I downloaded the H.323 R3.0 9600 .tar firmware file into the S8300D server running CM5.2.1. DHCP settings pointing IP phones to the IP address of the S8300 server for http. When IP phones boot up, I can see them accessing the S8300 server and I see the ha96xxua3.00.bin and hb96xxua3.00.bin firmware files being checked. The problem is after the IP phone checks these files an "invalid file ha96xxua3.00.bin" displays on the phone and it then continues it's boot process.

Has anyone out there successfully used the S8300 server as an http file server? Is there anything our of the ordinary that needs to be setup in order for this to work?

I appreciate any feedback.

Yes, however, the current 9600 firmware that I use is R3.101a, or there is an even newer release R3.1.1, I would suggest using a more recent version.

next, use "TLS", set your DHCP Option 242 string to:

MCIPADD=X.X.X.X,MCPORT=1719,TLSSRVR=X.X.X.X

also, go into the "Firewall" setting on the "Maint Web Page" and makse sure that HTTP/HTTPS ports are open (inbound and outbound) for IP phone firmware (ports 81 and 411).

Thanks for the posting Mitch, but I have tried the last two 9600 H.323 firmware files loaded in the S8300D. I verified that the firewall is allowing ip-http and ip-https ports for incoming and outgoing. I also statically assigned the IP address of the S8300 for file server in the IP phone but I get the same result wih "invalid file".
