Using routing services and a Pri from a voicemail

Hi,

We're having difficulties using routing services over a pri trunk for one of our clients with a BCM400, here's the goal:

When someone calls, the voicemail answers. From there we want to be able to dial a DN (destination code)to be transfered outside to a branch office, just like dialing a DN to reach an onsite phone.

Here is what we've done: We have tried with regular analog lines in a line pool. In the "route" section we set the phone number to dial, using pool a, and DN type is set to "private". Any other option for DN type results in an invalid dn message by the voicemail. So far so good, we managed to make it work at our site with analog lines.

We've tried with our customer that uses only pri trunks using these settings: The phone number as above, using lines in "Bloc A", DN Type cannot be set to anything, in element Manager it displays "n/a". Then when calling and entering the destination code we get an invalid DN message from the voicemail.

Is anyone using this kind of feature with their BCM400 system? How do you manage it? What are we missing?

I know I write long posts and I'm glad you've read up to here, I just want to make sure I give as much detail as possible so thanks for your time and hopefully a reply.

How are the sites connected? VoIP trunks or are you wanting to call an internal DN and have the system place a PSTN call for you.

The sites aren't connected together by any means other than outgoing calls over the pri. We want to be able to reach the other site by dialing a dn from the automated attendant (If you know your party's extension bla bla bla...) what is PSTN?

Your a Vendor and you don't know what a PSTN is?

Public switched telephone network

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

It sounds as if you want to dial, for example, 555 and have the system to actually dial 555-1212 to reach the other site. Am I correct?

Thanks for the definition of PSTN acewarlock, the thing is we normally use french terms cause we're in Quebec.

DigitelD, I don't know if the 555 for DN you use has any link with the actual dialed phone number, but that's it roughly. From the voicemail I want to dial say 7200, and be transferred (or linked) via the pri channels to the phone number 1-800-123-1234 for exemple. Ever done this with a BCM400 and pri channels?

Thanks
