We are having hell here. After following Symantec's own document (Document ID 2000042011340125 - "Using RIS with Ghost) and following it stage by stage we reach the following problem.
With RIS 2003, one has to install an operating system image in order to run the Remote Installation Services Setup. You have to run this before the RIS services can be started. The RIS services have to be started in order to get the Ghost "Ghost Boot Wizard" to give you the RIS 2000 option in making a boot image.
The problem is that when we boot the client machines, it goes though the whole welcome screen -> administrator username and password process before running the ghost install. I think that this is one of the *.osc files in the OS chooser folder. I am sure that if we didn't have to install this WinXP microsoft RIS image (which we are not even going to use) before starting the service, these *.osc files would not be needed or used. We JUST want it to jump straight to the ghost install, as the username and password are simply not needed.
Anybody any ideas?
