Using Remote SMTP server to sending email

I can use CDO.Message to send email with remote SMTP server. Now I have a Win NT server and I wonder if we can send email with remote SMTP server using CDONTS. I read on internet it can not be done. Has anyone tried that?

You can't do it directly, altough it can sort of be done by using the smarthost setting on the IIS SMTP server, if that is available on the NT4 version (can't recall that far back). But it will depends on how the remote server authenticates the user.
