Looking for info if there is any rule of thumb or pros/cons using Provision for a system upgrade. Mainly referring to an upgrade of something very old like a Definity R8 to a CM6. The documented upgrade process (unless I read them wrong) might have you go R8 to R9, R9 to CM5.2, then CM5.2 to CM6. Knowing that you would still need to do all of the server IP settings, cabinet/MG config, etc, and other stuff not applicable in the older systems before uploading the Definity R8 translation info to CM6, is there anything wrong/impractical/inefficient to loading the R8 station/vdn/ars/hunt/trunk/coverage....... tables into a CM6? Would it work? Another way of asking the same question is "assuming you had access to provision, how would you choose to upgrade a large Definity R7/R8/R9 to CM6/CM7? I'm trying to think outside of the box here and want to know if the "non-common control" type tables saved by provision are 100% compatible to be uploaded into newer CM releases.
