Hi all,

I have a progress bar that I want to run while an access (append) query is running --

at the moment the query will run, and then the progress bar will run -- How do I get the progress bar to start while the query executes simultaneously?

p.s -- the progress bar is contained in an independant pop-up form -- is this a problem?

thanks )

Do you have some way of updating the progress bar while the query is running? If so, I'd like to know how it's done as I have never been able to do this.

Otherwise, the query will run first, then the progress bar as the system has no way of knowing when to move the progress bar to the next value.

Then again, I did this in VB5. I had a progress bar that was updated gradually during a preocedure, but similar problems to yours occurred. Possibly something to do with releasing the processor from one task to another periodically (something to do with threads). I eventually got it to work but then the bar would appear but not the dialog it was in! Strange. Have fun!)
