Hi, I was just wondering if anyone here used Postgres as a back end for VFP? And if any one has seen any info which may help this process along.

Thanks

Can't really help you with VFP specifically, but we do use Access as a front end through ODBC. Its probably not that different with VFP.

BTW, did you get the notice that MS is opensourcing VFP? And, they announced they will be halting its development and support?

gwinn7,

No that is not true, support will be end in 2015.

Michael,

According to Eweek, it is true. Here is the article...

Support is halting, I just didn't say when, but yes, 2015. The product is no longer going to be advanced by MS past version 9.0.

Now, the article indicates that MS is opensourcing parts of it. The article indicates "core" components. What that really means, I am not certain.

As I say support will be end in 2015, it's long period. "core" remain in MS hands, only "Sedna" AddOn will go to Open-Source.
VFP9 is mature product and have no match in datacentric apps. There is .NET extender and soon .NET compailer
