using pictures in CR8.5

I have to create a report that will show employee pictures, very similar to EmployeeProfile sample report using Access db, that comes with Crystal. I have to use SQL Server2000 with CR8.5.
I have read few threads and they emphasize on storing pictures in the file system and storing just the paths in the tables. I am not sure how will it work from crystal stand point. Any ideas, articles, tips would be very helpful.

I don't think you can do it that way (at least not in 8.5 or lower). At best, you could create a hyperlink to the path to open the image.

Here's a faq about it faq767-1988.

There are also ways it could be done programatically (e.g. through a VB app using the RDC).
