Using Partner ACS 206E module as a standalone internal-only PBX

Hi all, I have pieced together the following modules:

2x Partner ACS 206E 4.1
Partner II 4.1 processor
Partner VS 5.0 w/ 2-port card

Just for fun I want to set up a few analog phones on a standalone 206 if possible as an intercom. Essentially, pick up a phone and dial an extension (10-15) and have the other extension ring. I worked on a Partner II system many years ago and I was pretty sure this was possible.

The 206 module works by itself, but it wants to connect the external line to a phone when you go off-hook.

I'm not sure if the modules I have are compatible with each other, but I suppose I could order an 18D or 36D phone to program the thing as a system if I can't do this standalone.

Anyone know how to do this?
 
You're going to need to get a display set to program it, even just for ALS.

Then just go into system program, and dial #104-0
 
Thanks, I'll hunt for a phone. Any of you guys know if the MLS18D is compatible with the ACS 206E? It should be, but I figure I'd ask.
 
Ok, I did manage to get a display phone. I get the feeling that the 206EC can't be used on its own, since when I plug the phone into it, it's totally dead. When I put it in the cage with the processor module, it works fine. I don't mind using the whole Partner system, but a standalone board would take up a lot less space.

Thanks for the help, I haven't had to program a Partner in ages, and I don't really remember what a lot of the options do anymore- but it definitely works.
 
The "E" is for Expansion - a non-E 206 module can function as a standalone Partner system.

Get the manual from support.avaya.com or wedophones.com, or keep asking here.
 
Thanks Tommy. I was pretty sure that the E was for Expansion, so I'm not surprised. I'm going to try fixing up a Partner II proc to replace the Partner + one I have with a bad battery.

If someone can point me to a PDF version of the gigantic Partner II programming book, that'd be helpful. The online guides at wedophones are, in the meanwhile, very useful. Even if I'm not sure I remember what all the settings do!

Right now it's just something to play around with, but I can forsee some potential uses for this system at home. I don't think the cards will pass callerid to regular analog phones though, and I haven't figured out how to turn off the auto-attendant, though I do find it amusing to think that telemarketers would be greeted with "now transferring you to the receptionist." :)

Will turn your "auto attendant" off - what's really happening is the voicemail ports are not programmed, so they are seeing the incoming call ring, answering it, and not receiving the mode codes from the system to know what to do with the call. So, fallback position is to play "transferring to receptionist" and send to Ext. 10.
