I have a report(CRXI R2) showing applications that have been sent to separate companies and their time outstanding.

I would like to set up the report so that the primary grouping is based on end user's choice of either 1) Oldest time sent, 2)Person who initiated the applications, or 3)the company to which the application was sent.

I have tried to group on a formula, but it is having difficulties with the two data types (above noted;1 is number, and 2/3 are strings)...

I have the parameter hard coded to show only the three options listed above, but haven't figured out how to then tell crystal to group based on the end user's selection...

Ideas?

You need to convert the number to a string (so that all results of the formula are the same datatype) that will also sort correctly as a string. If you want help with how to convert that, please show samples of the number and indicate what the time the number corresponds to. If it is actually a duration, not a time, then use something like this:

totext({table.time},"00000000") //where there are as many zeros as the longest possible number

lbass,

Thank you, it worked great! I thought about changing it to text as you suggested, but didn't know how to get it to sort in numeric order correctly, so thought there might be another way.
