Using Parameters in multiple reports 2

First off I don't think my subject line helps with my question but here it goes.

I have a few specific parameter fields that I tend to use in all my reports. Is there any way to copy them and use them over and over again instead of having to constantly type them out and make them again.

I don't use the CR repository function at all but I don't think you can store parameters in there any way.

One thing you could do would be to create a report template which contains all of your parameters and common/shared objects. Each time you create a new report you start there and SAVE AS. You can then strip out any parameters/objects which are not needed.

That is something I will keep in mind from this point forward Jason. However, whats happening is I'm going back and fixing old reports that used the select expert only to define the parameters and trying to use the parameters fields instead. This is being done to make it easier for managers that don't know how to use crystal to just be prompted for what they want instead of having to use the select expert. If what you say is true I will just have to add the 2 same parameter fields by hand for about 50 or so reports.

Creating a parameter itself isn't that time intensive, and you have to go into each report to do this, if you are modifying existing reports. You can go directly to report->selection formula->record and do the replacement there, but I would caution you that if a report has hard coded conditions, these could also occur in conditional formulas, formatting formulas, group selection formulas, running totals, etc., so you would need to be sure you had replaced all relevant instances of the condition with the parameter.

If the issue is creating picklists for the parameters repeatedly, you can create a text version of the picklist via another Crystal report that is exported to text. You can then just import this text file to populate the parameter picklist.

That will help to reduce how much I will have to type by a lot. I didn't know about being able to export the pick list into a text file and import it into any other one that I wanted. As far as your warning about certain things being used in formula fields and such I have already taken care of that but thanks for the warning none the less.
