We have an application which we wrote in 1994 that we have brought from DOS to Dos under Win95, Win98, and NT 4.0. We would like to be able to run it under Windows 2000 and even possibly XP. I was wondering if there is someone who has had some experience with using Paradox for DOS with Windows 2000 who could indicate anything special they did to get things working. My main problem appears to be in regard to setting the path the way I need it. The documentation for Win2k says that I can go into the properties for pdoxrun and change where autoexec and config are going to be. I put my path in that version of autoexec and I'm off and running. The problem is that it only works once. When I reboot, it works again, but only once.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I support a small user group that have Paradox/Dos 4.5. We run both interactive and runtime. We don't use any autoexec.exe or config.sys. We set on the memory tab the DPMI to 16384 (Paradox's max). We also set the -norealheap option on the command line as it seems to help.

Experience and other developers have shown that Paradox/Dos must be run in a normal window and not full screen. Also, Paradox/Dos is senitive to mouse movement during it's inialization, but once Paradox is fully opened then the mouse doesn't interfer. During opening a mouse movement can cause Paradox to abort.

Thanks for your suggestions EFSutter. I will definitely try them. I assume that the changes you suggest to DPMI is to pdoxrun.exe?

One additional question, how does one have the correct folders in the PATH for operation if you don't employ the use of autoexec or config files?

Thanks again for your help.
