Using paging as a panic alarm?

Given the madness in Paris this past week, a number of local schools are looking to upgrade their panic alert notifications to each classroom. Yes, they do have an alarm system, but there are a limited number of horns, and, given that there is a a phone in each classroom, it makes more sense to alert everyone that way.
Ideally, what they would like to have is a "panic button" in the office that would send an alert noise (i.e. horn/siren) to each phone on the system. Can that be done using a standard paging amplifier?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Why not just place all the phones into one page group then do a page all to that group

Could do that, but they want a single button (i.e. under the desk), and a horn/siren alert

There is usually an aux ringer relay on the paging amps, just hook up the button......should be press on press off type instead of hold.
You utilize the spare pair in the phones cable/jack if any.

Still need to address the horn/siren...that's the issue

This means you get a type of warble over the speakers.

If you dont like it then get a 3rd party ringer to add to the amp.

You should really have a tech on site to check your equipment.

Over the overhaed speakers you can get the warble tone but only the page tone and voice thru phones speakers.
What they want wont work.

I didn't read right sorry, I was talking about through the current amp on site.

You said they had an amp but I gather not every class has a P.A. speaker?

Only thing I can think off is hook up an ATA to an unused Trunk port, assign that line/trunk to Appear and Ring on all sets using "Distinctive Ring" and label that button in red.
Program a button on the set to call the ATA.....label it yellow.

or simply just page the sets

or

If some money can be spent maybe an Algo Duet Ringer installed on the second pair of the phone cable/jack.
Panic button completes the circuit using the Relay Terminal all Algo Ringers in class rooms.

Algo Ringers have tone and pitch settings.

Outta ammo!

Very helpful. Thanks much Curly (and all). Hadn't seen the Algo unit.
