User is using Pagemaker, trying to export a .pdf file to Adobe Acrobat and is receiving the error message "need to install Acrobat distiller". Any advice other than purchasing distiller? just curious.

Acrobat uses acrobat distiller - a simulated printer - to create adobe .PDF files. For most users distiller is operating "behind the scenes", i.e., you don't directly interface with it. In order to export your pagemaker document as a .pdf file I pretty sure you gonna have to have the distiller installed. It should be installed when you install Acrobat. Unfortunately if you only have acrobat reader (the free download) you won't be able to create any .pdf files because it does not contain the distiller.

the Pagemaker (PM) install disks should have Distiller on it (not Full Acrobat). Distiller is a separate install from PM. It's possible that the Distiller install was cancelled. Another problem if you are running Windows XP, Distiller may have installed incorrectly.

to be a bit more helpful, need to know what version PM and Windows you are running; and if you or someone else did the PM install.
