Have VPN connection to SBS Server 2003 in office using third party hardware.

Connect to server using Remote Desktop to access Files and Outlook Email.

Is this the correct way?

I have read using outlook on the server could cause problems.

Also what’s the maximum amount of users that can connect remotely consecutively and can that be increased?

Why are you not using Remote Web Workplace?

Remote connections to the server are limited to 2. Only administrators should have direct access to the server.

If you MUST log onto the server you should use OWA to access email instead of Outlook.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

You don't use Outlook on the server, but you should be using Outlook Web Access / Outlook Anywhere. There is a wizard in a hyperlink on the right when you log in to remote web workplace.
