My G4 currently runs OS 9.2 and is hooked up to a cable modem. I set up an Ethernet network that links to a Windows PC; the PC accesses the Internet via my Mac, with Sustaininable Softworks' IP NetRouter acting as a router running on the Mac. It works great.

I'm interested in upgrading to OS X.2, but IP NetRouter is not available for Jaguar, nor does the company have any immediate plans to upgrade beyond OS 9.x. What are my options?

Can you recommend another router software or hardware solution? More importantly, I've heard about Jaguar's excellent networking capabilities. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have Jaguar running at home, but haven't done anything network wise yet with it.

My boss offers that it is really quite simple with Jaguar.

Unfortunately, that's all I have for you.

How about the other way around? You can pump the internet access through your PC to the Mac by using a free PC proxy program at analogx.com

You can also set up apache to act as a proxy server but I have not tried it in OSX.

Does using the Apache Web server for the cable modem conflict with anything else? I'm also planning to use Dreamweaver MX to build database-driven pages, and that utilizes Apache as well.

There's a tutorial about using apache as a proxy on devshed.com

I would locate the exact article but their site seems to be down right now. A simple search on their site for 'apache' and 'proxy' should display it when they are back up and running.
