Sorry, this might be the wrong forum, but it's the best I could find.

I'm currently evaluating and deciding on browsers, and the only two real choices left are Opera and Mozilla. Opera is seeming significantly faster, so I want to play with it more, but it's missing one feature that I've grown to adore in Mozilla, or at least it appears as such to me. Namely, I've set Mozilla to middle click me to a new tab. In Opera to get this functionallity, I'm having to right click, then chose open in new page. Is there a setting I'm missing that might help me with this?

Thanks,
Rob

Sorry, forgot I had a second question, I can't seem to figure out the key combination to access the address bar.

i.e. ctrl-l in mozilla, alt-d in both mozilla and i.e.

Use Mouse gestures! Often overlooked and very powerful.

To browse a new page (new tab) hold down right mouse button and drag down a bit.

F8 to jump to the address bar.

Forgot to mention. check out NetCaptor. I use it for sights that have to use IE. Very cool features: multiple tabs, mouse gestures, etc.

Definitely worth checking out.

Yeah, I've been playing with the mouse gestures, and am enjoying them, but at home on my laptop they're not so fun.

And I see that gesture you mentioned works for opening the tab with the content of a link...

do you know if there's a way to remap that F8 key to something I like better?

-Rob

I know what you mean about mouse gestures on a laptop! I use a mouse with my laptop whenever possible.

As for remapping F8, I doubt it can be done. Do you have something against F8 [lol]

Maybe a mouse gesture can be used to similate it, but I doubt it's doable. Have you tried posting to the Opera forums? If it can be done, someone there could tell you.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help with that.

F8 is so far away! And on a laptop those F-Key's aren't in the same place I'm used to them being on a regular keyboard, add that in with slouching on the couch and in the dark, and I just mash the wrong F-Key too often...

Thanks for all the info, could you tell me where the Opera Forums are (unless it's just a link off their home page which I'll find soon enough)

-Rob

In the Opera bar there should be a shortcut for MyOpera. On that page, right column, there's a link to Opera Forums.

Let me know if you can't find it.

Already running that, though I believe it's called Firebird now. I just kinda lump all the mozilla products into Mozilla when I'm talking about them nowadays.

Funny, I'm evaluating Firebird right now. There are just some sights that Opera doesn't render properly.

I know it's probably a standards thing, but I really don't care. I need that page, that site. I really want a fast tabbed browser that shows pages they way they should be. Particularly menus!

One tip on evaluating Firebird, do the nightly builds, they're way past the last release.

Once'n awhile you'll get a bum build that makes bad requests, but if you grab the nightly builds for 3 days in a row or so, there're very good odds you'll get a great one.
