Hi Guys,

Has anyone deployed Nupoint Standard UM on VMWare?

I know there is the new VMWare version but it does not cater for the number of users we require.

I understand it may not be supported by Mitel but does it work ok?

We are looking at about 1100 users initially moving up to 3000.

Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Many Thanks in advance.

Only done the MAS version that you speak of not being big enough. I would suspect it would work given that the VMWare version is simply a prepackaged virtual machine composed of MSL and the Nupoint blade. The issue would be to get the VM configuration correct.

Don't know if I would go ahead with a deployment of 1100 users on a platform that you will get no support on, but that's just me.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

We've had one customer do it with success.
Their internal staff is very competent with VM and wanted to try it. We explained the "no support" thing and "we ain't done it so we've no idea if it will work or not" thing but they decided to go forward.

The only issues they had were related to the same 'ol standard crap you have to deal with on any NuPoint install.

You configure it right I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work. The .ova file you get is just a pre packaged virtual machine with CPU's, hard drive space, RAM etc all set for you. The rest is standard.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

The only issue is if you run into problems Mitel tech support will respond that 'that configuration is not supported' and it ends there
If you do get it working and you have a software issue it is best not to mention VM just tell Mitel it is on a supported server from the HQL
