I'm having a problem backing up some database files used by a certain application. I'm getting the "in use - skipped" errors in the ntbackup log file.

Do any of you know any tricks that I can employ that will allow me to back these files up?

You will have to purchase a backup solution that will allow you to backup files that are "in-use".

There are solutions like BackupExec or Arcserve that will do this trick.

Hope this helps,

Erik

Create this key if it's not present and set the value to 1

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ntbackup\Backup Engine\Backup files inuse

softdevchris,

Have you actually used this trick? We have Win 2000 Server
and have problems with Access / .mdb files getting skipped because they are in-use.

No one here knew about this...

Thanks, John
