Using NT share / Vines Disk

I am running Street Talk for NT. A share on the NT server is used as a Vines disk (Disk for IT@system@ST0003). Some users need access to this share without using the Vines-client. Will it cause any problems if some users work on this share by mapping it using NT mapping? Will the Vines database handle the files added or edited on the share, though the Vines-client was not used?
