using mySQL on Linux - Error message

I have a mySQL database set up on a Linux red hat 6.0 machine, and I've been accessing it with MS Access on a windows machine. Recently I've been getting this error whenever I try to open a table in Access:
"Lost connection to mySQL server during query"

I can SSH into the Linux server & access the database that way, so I know the DB's not down. I can also view the files in the DB via the Samba connection (I'm not the one who set up Samba & I'm not sure how that works) Has anyone had this problem before? Could it be some utility that isn't starting up or something?

Have you upgraded glibc recently? Take a look here:
