Hi,

We currently have 3 Exchange servers. One of them is on its own and the other two are in the same organisation, but different sites.

We are now going to change our email address so everyone in the building has the same address. We don't want to move everyone on to one server.

Is it possible to have one server collect the mail and then move it to another Exchange server which is where the limits for the users are set and they log on to and recieve the mail?

If it is possible and the servers have to be moved into the same site and organisation then that would be fine.

We are running Exchange 5.5. If it can be done in 2000 then that is fine too.

Any comments or help would be gratefully received.

Best wishes

Michael Curtis

Nobody seems to want to help BUT I will give you a few tips
If you move all to the same network-
1.* only one PDC(Primary Domain Controller)
the others can be either a mail server or BDC (backup Domain Controller. If you have two PDC one will crash when booted.
2.Make sure that you are either using all assigned IP addresses or Server Assigned, NOT a mixture.
3.You can set up trusting and trusted domains - to techy to explain here.
O.K. then your email server works with a firewall and protects your company files and routes all email set file size limits, time of email access etc and leaves the file and apps to the PDC, logins are all global like NOVELL these days.
Exchange Server 5.5 with (at least) service pack 3 is fine and will last for ages as long as you keep it tidy.
4.check you naming conventions for any duplicates BEFORE integrating the servers
5. BACKUP !!
6. BACKUP
7. BACKUP
hope this helps a bit
