We have removed Oracle 7.3 ODBC drivers from our standard operating environment installations, and the only oracle ODBC drivers available will be "Oracle in OraHome92" and "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle". Still, we have an old Oracle database in use and I am trying to connect to it using an MS Access 97 database which contains a lot of business functionality (which our users are constantly using).

I have just refreshed my own machine to the latest operating environment build, so I am now lacking the 7.3 drivers. I am now having great difficulty in using Access 97 to acces the old oracle 7.3 database. Here are my findings:

Using OraHome92 ODBC driver:
* I have been able to connect to Salespage using database connection tool Aqua Data Studio
* I have NOT been able to connect to Salespage using Access97
- Opening a linked table displays all data values as "#Deleted"
- Attempting to link to a table, only the first letter of the table name is displayed, and the links to these cannot be created, as the names are invalid.

Using Microsoft ODBC for Oracle:
* I have been able to connect to Salespage using database connection tool Aqua Data Studio
* I have been able to connect to SOME Salespage tables using Access 97. Data in SOME tables (such as CMS_CONTACT) display as "#Name?". Not sure what this problem is.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I might resolve this? All help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Victor.

I am not sure if this is your problem, but oacle 7.3 uses SqlNet 1 and Oracle 9i uses SqlNet 2. They are not compatible. The only version that could talk to both were the Oracle 8i client.
