Hi,
I have just been said that if you intend to only use the free mqseries client code in your company, you need to get at least one mqseries server license?

is that new?
thanks for any info
Jack

Well, assume that you are allowed to use a client version for free. What exactly can you do with it without a server version. And thats the reason the statement, you have to have at least 1 license for the server version of MQ.

well KK,
the pb is:
- we are a company with a mqseries server installed
- we let other company to come on our server using only client applications on their machines
- question: has this other company to get a server license to be able to only use client mqseries?
Jack

I am not really sure of how the licensing works. But if you can get a copy of Client version of MQ for your use, you could connect to MQ server installed in your company without any issues. The client company does not need to get a license for a server version if it doesnt use or install one. Since they only need a client, they could just get a copy(as i said before, either licensed or trial version, if that suits) and use to connect your server(MQ).

Cheers
KK

What platform are you wanting the client to connect to? I believe that the z/OS Client (and all flavors of MVS) was a chargeable option. I may be wrong about that as we don't use it.
