Is it possible to get e-mail from an Exchange Server using MAPI protocol without installing the Outlook Client on the server?

I'm using DSTX 7.5.1, and I can get the e-mail on my pc when testing because I have Outlook installed. I tried the POP3, but our Exchange admins have the POP3 calls disabled. I don't think I will be able to get that changed.

I am getting the following error:
Run Started at 10:26:36.709 on 12/08/06.
GetMailCoreInfo: Successful.
MAPI Profile 'OMHOPPER' will be used.
Warning! No profiles found !
MAPILogon failed. Login was unsuccessful.
Run Terminated at 10:26:36.772 on 12/08/06.

So is there a way to add the MAPI profile without installing a full e-mail client?

I can't help much, but the email adapter reference guide says:
---------
The 32-bit version of the MAPI Services (mapi32.dll and its associated software) must be installed on the same computer where the adapters are installed

A valid profile must exist. (Profiles are associated with the user ID)

The Event Server, if used, must run under a user ID that has access to the desired profile
---------
So, it sounds like you need an Outlook client running on your server.
Cheers,
Olly.

I use ther mime adapter and inet protocol to get mail from exchange without Outlook.

Thanks Olly. That's what I understood from the documentation too, I was just hoping someone had come up with a workaround or other solution.

Back to the drawing board I guess.
