We are having a Visual 6 basic application written for us the will run on metaframe XP. THe application will need to utilize local devices such as scanners and card readers. Is there a preferred or least painful selection about which port to use on the local machine to get this to work. All the user workstations will be Win2000. Is parallel or USB better than serial?
THanks

There is limited USB support in MetaFrame XP - it's much better with FR2. Scanners can be tricky at the best of times in a Terminal Server environment, but card readers generally seem to be OK.

Both Parallel and USB are, of course, much faster than serial, but the lpt/com ports may need to be mapped via a login script with net use. USB should work automatically.

I hope this helps
