Are there any considerations for connecting eth0 through a cablemodem ISP? All my configurations appear to be normal but I'm not connecting. The IP address stays fairly constant as long as I don't power down the system. Any thoughts?

just to be sure, i suggest using dhcpcd to get your ip address. even if the address stays fairly consistent, use dhcp anyway.<br>

there really aren't any issues with linux and cable modems. just make sure your nic works, dhcpcd is installed, and you have physical connectivity. what do you mean when you say 'you aren't connecting'? if you are more specific i can give you stuff to try. btw i use adsl on my linux box, it gets configured exactly the same as a cable modem from the linux point of view, and it works fine. you should have no problems with cable modems.
