Using korean characters in Quark?

Hello,

I have a Quark document that I need it import text that is a combination of both english and korean. The korean has already been translated and I can see and read the characters in Microsoft Word (it opens the Korean truetype font)

But I cannot open or use this font in Quark. So all that appears when I try to import it is ????

Is there a korean font that I can use with Quark? I tried using Adobe Myungjo Std.oft by adding it to a Suitcase, but it doesnt appear in the Quark menu either.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I don't think, but am not sure, that Quark supports Korean - I believe the language is called Hangul. Generally you need Quark Passport for multiple language support.

Quark does not happen to support Unicode, Word does - which could be part of your problem. so Korean could be worse - not sure. Passport makes no mention of supporting any oriental language - just European languages.

Depending on the layout, could you possibly PDF the Korean text from Word and put it in? Or maybe eps it with outlined fonts?

Yeah, EPS is my fallback plan. Of course, InDesign works fine with the font using Apple Gothic font.

But Quark doesn't seem to be able to use Apple Gothic.

If you're on OSX, try System Prefs - International - input - Hangul.

Can't hurt to try.
