Using keys to drive menus

Hi,
I have a number of users for whom I want to tie Goldmine down to a very few activities. I am doing this via a custom toolbar.
Most things I can do by recording macros, but I have hit a small problemette.
I want to add a number of commands on this toolbar which will dive straight into certain parts of the activities list. for example, when they click one button, it takes them to open calls, another to open appointments etc.
I know, I know, but thats part of my brief!
Anyway, I can open the Activity list by going Alt/G/V, however, the focus is now away from the activity list, and I can't find a way to return it to that list to open the specific list I want.
Any ideas?

You can control some of the people some of the time, but you can't control all of the people all of the time.

This is virtually impossible to do within GoldMine so you may want to develop your own application that will only display the GoldMine data that they are supposed to be able to work with. This application would run independantly of GoldMine.

Are you familiar with George Orwells "Big Brother" concept? That's not a good thing in my opinion.

Seriously though, the reason that this edict has come down from above is not one of control. Its one of making the application a lot simpler for the sales reps.

I can (and have) created a couple of toolbars that run macros so that they have short cuts to their most frequently used menu options, but I guess this was just a step too far.

You can make GoldMine a lot easier for them by creating customized applications that focus on their needs.

Oh, I agree totally, but as the business has spent all this money on buying the Goldmine licenses in the first place, it makes it really difficult (especially in these financially challenging times) to warrent writing a new GUI to it.
Maybe we need to employ more intelligent sales reps Heaven forbid - did I say that out loud?
Seriously though, Goldmine does about 50% of what we need out of the box. I now have to persuade the sales managers to change their working practices to pick up the slack from the last 50%

About the only way that you can assure the proper adherence to your SOP's is to somehow tie the GoldMine usage to their paycheck. This then will force them to adhere to the SOP's if they want to get paid.

Make sure that you clearly document your SOP's in the GoldMine Knowledgebase, and make sure that your end-users know of their existence in this Knowledgebase.
