Using Java Web Start as a deployment technology

If someone has used Java Web Start, could I know the necessary steps necessary for deploying forms9i on 9iAS Rel 2.
The idea being that my application is independent of the browser viz IE and NetScape.
I am new to Java so any help is appreciated.
