Using IPU as addional ports

I have a problem loggin into (BC9)!! on the serial ports on the installed NIU. The known way of pulling out the NIU, does not work anymore, an there is problems to find another NIU-card

Can I install an IPU-card from another (old) switch to temporary solve the problem, in addition to the existing NIU? The customer is aware of the out-dated system he is using, so an upgrade is a part of the solution, but I have to reach the system in the meantime.Or any other tip to reach the system with serial port?

How are you going to install another card when you can't log on? Strange that you are using an NIU at BC9, didn't come in until BC10. Really, it may be hard , but you need to try another NIU card if you can find one I think

Yes, there is a problem if I can't log on.. So my hope is restarting the existing NIU several times gives me access to log on. So, if this happens, can I install my IPU in a free slot, run the CNHUI, and the command for initiating a new IO card? Will the system discover the prom on the card with another IPA-number? Or can i use an ICU-card? Or SIU? Or is the only way to search around for a NIU? I am asking cause I have both IPU, ICU and SIU-cards available.

IPU is the card for logging on, put it in, cnhui, setup the serial port and away you go. im still confused why you have an NIU at BC9 though, it should be an IPU at that level, I didn't know you could even get an NIU to work at BC9 as the NIU card did not exist when BC9 was released!

Good grounding and stable power supply helps a lot to avoid problems with login on NIU and IPU boards.

You can add more IPU cards in MD110 BC9, since no license file is needed.
Otherwise restart TWP2 nad TWP3.

Ok, what about the prom on the IPU-card? It has a different IPA-number from the customers, is the system going to accept this (without reloading)

there is no license on an IPU card, its BC9, its not licensed as above. are you sure you're at bc9???

Yes, the second IPU board (with no HDU) will not make the system reload, if inserted.
