We purchased a BCM400. I won't say names but a very large telecommunications company sold us the system and then really didn't know what they were doing when they installed it. Unfortunately the only other vendor in my area was way out on installs. Anyway, I see that it says I have 9 "Active" IP Client Seats. So I assume that means I can use 9 IP phones or i2050 clients? The installer had no idea. Now everytime I call they charge me $250 for a "change". If that's the case then I'm having problems. I can't get the i2050 software to connect to the system. Or I should say I think it connects but the first thing it wants is a password. I've tried "0000" and that didn't work. So my question is how do I configure my soft phones and/or IP phones to work with this system?

There is a default password, which at the moment escapes me, but it's in the documentation if you have the CD under IP telephony. Otherwise, go into programming on the BCM and under telephony, select IP telephony, and set up a new password and check that registration is on. I'm in Toronto area if that's any help to you, but I've heard stories before about different company practices, and customer dissatisfaction.

I believe the default password is admin. You can change it under telephony resources after clicking the IP and application. You had to verify your BCM software version because I2050 softphone software could be specific to a particular BCM version.

As to how many licences you have, you can install MORE than 9 i2050's, but you can only have 9 active at once.

This is the DN registration password. You need to turn DN Registration on in the telephony menu, and choose a password that will be used to register the DNs.

You could change it to No Password by just removing it in programming.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

The last two guys are right. You need to enable global registration, then enable global registration password,(pick one), and I uncheck the auto assign set check box. Then when you start the softphone, you set the bcm server IP address and port number 5000. It will connect. I am assuming you are on the same LAN, or have a VPN connection to the subnet where the bcm is sitting? Lastly, is your bcm on the network? If they don't know how IP works, they may not even have the bcm on your network. I see you mention the IP clients, but are you accessing it from your PC, or plugged into the BCM directly?
