Hi there!

We have some p650 servers with HMC attached. This works OK. We have some legacy pSeries servers (B50 and B80) mounted in the same rack, thus I raised an idea to connect them to the HMC as they have no real consoles. Is this possible?

Thanks,

No you can't I'm afraid. The servers you mentioned do not have HMC ports and so cannot be connected.

Yes, I know, my legacy servers has no HMC ports. But they have serial ports an the HMC has a multiport serial adapter. I thought it can be exploited somehow.

Hi

What you can do is adding in the hmc window your other aix servers so you can administer your systems with websm (webbased smit)

Let me know if you need any help.

greeting

michel.

Thanks Michel!

Even though I would need to have serial terminal server to be able to access the SMS menu of the boxes when some serious failure occurs. Thus "serial" is the keyword.
