I used the gradient tool that takes foreground to transparent(dithered) looks fine, then when I goto Export to GIF89 , I have to use exact pallete to get the transparency, but it looks bad, like a monocrhome 2bit dithered image.
Karl
kb244@kb244.8m.com
<a href=
Experienced in , or have messed with : VC++, Borland C++ Builder, VJ++6(starting),VB-Dos, VB1 thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, Borland C++ 3(DOS), Borland C++ 4.5, HTML,Visual InterDev 6, ASP(WebProgramming), QBasic(least i didnt start with COBOL)

 Gif's are not the best picture format, I hope one day someone comes up with something better that still ratain the transparency ability.

 I never got Great results with Photoshop and Gif, but I had to live with what I got before I got a hold of Image ready and Fireworks, both are much better at creating gif files.

 My suggestion is to try and get a hold of one of those, or simply make due without transparencies and use jpegs instead by making sure that you blend between your picture and your backgroud color.
Andre Vandal
dezign@canada.com
<a href= Dezign's Sites
A bit of eveything Celestial

unfortunatly the jpeg do not retain transparency, and the gif is to be placed in an application, rather than on a website, however kien has made Gif that look alot better by manually putting in transparent lines(like a curtain blinds) having the picture shown have the time on lines, and transparent lines interlacing, so that you get a feel of the color scheme through the Gif, in this case all dialogs have a gradient blue, by making the image a tint of blue, and having transparent lines through it, it looks alot nicer, thanks for your sugestion, I'll certainly consider it on a personal lever(on a professinoal level I'll just like Kein do it, since thats what my company hired him for)
Karl
kb244@kb244.8m.com
<a href=
Experienced in , or have messed with : VC++, Borland C++ Builder, VJ++6(starting),VB-Dos, VB1 thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, Borland C++ 3(DOS), Borland C++ 4.5, HTML,Visual InterDev 6, ASP(WebProgramming), QBasic(least i didnt start with COBOL)

The problem with Gifs is that they are only 256 colors. Makes it hard to make a descent gradient when you are this limited.
