Using field values to link tif files to a form or table

This driving me nuts and I hope you can help.
I have thousands of tif files for which I can use field values to generate a string equivalent to the images' filenames. I want to use the string to refer to a linked and embedded image in a table or on a form.

The database is .mdb (Jet)
