using excel spreadsheet to modify data in table

Hi

I am making an appointment organisor and I was thinking if we could use some code on either excel sheet or datasheet view of table to color code the apointment hours for a paitint and saving the length of apoointment in the database on some event run?

I created a prototype of what i was thinking in excel but i am not able to paste that image in here..

Does anyone have any ideas on this issue?
