Hi,
I'd like to know how to use Data Transformation Service to import multiple log files. I'm able to import 1 file successfully. When I use DTS, it give me a browse option to select a single file, is it possible to select mulitiple files?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for your quick response.
How would I apply this to SQL's Enterprise Manager or Query Analyzer? I'm using Enterprise Manager to do the DTS import.

Thanks.

Download the code from the SQLDTS.com site. Unzip the file. The sample package is contained in the file named "SQLDTS.com Loop Import and Archive (246).dts." You can open this DTS package from Enterprise Manager. Right-click the Data Transformation Services folder and select Open Package. Browse to the downloaded, unzipped file and open it. You'll have to enter the password "sqldts" to open it. After it is opened you can examine the code, modify as needed, save it to a new file or on SQL Server. If you want to get the best answer for your question read faq183-874 and faq183-3179.

I have different names for the differnt log files. Will this work for the different names? Where do I change the directory of where the log files reside?

You can open each ActiveX task in the package and modify it to meet your needs. The folder containing the fioles is defined in the global variable, gv_FileLocation. The loop in step 4 of the sample reads the file names in the folder specified. It doesn't matter what the names are.

You should open the sample DTS pacakge and analyze each step. If you want to get the best answer for your question read faq183-874 and faq183-3179.
