The CTRL feature in Word is behaving...oddly. When you go to choose a line it will choose the whole sentence up to the period. Then, if you want a second line, it unchooses that first full sentence (no matter how many lines) and chooses the next full sentence you were going to choose just a line out of.
Thoughts? And Thanks in advance.

How are you selecting the lines? For me, I use the SHIFT key and the down arrow to select line by line.

Please describe exactly what you are doing and what you are trying to select.

Say there are six lines with or without periods.
If I wish to choose lines 1, 3 and 6 I left click and hold at the beginning of line 1 and choose. Then I press and hold the CTRL key, move and choose left click and hold to highlight line three and still holding the CTRL key repeat that for line 6.
What is happening when I do this on the affected computer is that as I go to choose line 1 it highlights the entire sentence up to the period no matter how many lines. Then, holding the CTRL key to move to the next line, whichever that may be, it UN highlights that first selection, which is a sentence, not just a line, and highlights the next sentence to the period, again, regardless of the amount of lines.

Holding down Ctrl and clicking in text is the shortcut for selecting a sentence.

Do your clicking and Ctrl-clicking in the left margin, not in the text.

-Why use a big word when a diminutive one will do?-

I see: you are making non-contiguous selections of lines by selecting a line with the mouse in the selection area (left of the margin) and using the control key for making additional non-contiguous line selections). Lines may be part of a sentence, a whole sentence part of two sentences, etc.

That is strange because I can make non-contiguous selections like that so there is something odd at work here.

Lets eliminate outside influences by testing again whilst in Safe Mode.

From Start, Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Open up a document now and try selecting non-contiguous lines again. What happens?
