using cross cabling n/w is access but using hub it's not accessing

i am having 2 systems previously i am using cross cabling
my network was working fine,but when i am connecting through
switch or hub my network is not accissing.what is the problem please help me,is there any changes to network configuration.
operating system is windows 98 at both side.

If you go from computer to computer need crossover
Going from computer to hub need straight through cable

Change to straight through and you will be in business

Simular to simular requires cross; simular to dis-simular requires straight. That's it! If that doesn't work then you have a 'port blown'.
