I have a web app that currently uses CR 8.5 Developer to merely create PDF files upon request from within VBScript/VB, then I redirect the user's browser to the resulting PDF file. I'd like to give the user some control over a copy of the report for sorting, adding/removing fields, etc. I have a call into Crystal, but thought I'd see what users' thoughts are. Do we need CR Enterprise? Do we have to buy a license for each named user? I don't want the user to have to install anything on their system. Thanks for any thoughts!

You could create an Excel file instead. You loose more formatting, but the user has more flexibility with the data. It may be that you would want to give them the option, pretty PDF or versitile Excel.

I really want to give them a finished report look like a PDF with headings, totals, etc. I wanted them to be able to add/remove some of the fields and perhaps sort/group differently. Thanks for the reply!

The PDF file seems unchangeable. In my application, we export to a rtf file (without losing any format and quality), then user can change to whatever they want. After print, rtf file looks nice too.

Hope it can help

Jeff, try to make the report with parameters where users can choose how to sort, what fields to include etc. And only after that export results to PDF. Jope it helps. If you need more details I'll be glad to help.
